Like this week, when there was a Harry Potter and Gryffindor-themed bookmark waiting for my kid at the post office, handmade by Tia. That was a very fun mail day.
It is the weekend, which means Ten Things of Thankful is happening at the Considerings Blog. Are you ready for some thankfuls? Here are mine:
1. Ice Cream Sandwiches.
2. Working internet and video chats.
3. Hot Tea.
4. Audio books that allow Thomas to read while he is at work, and make for great conversations when he comes home.
5. Hamburgers and french fries.
6. Craft stores.
7. Salads with tangy dressing and fruit.
8. Buses that arrive right on time.
9. Chips of all kinds - potato, tortilla, pita, chocolate, and cinnamon.
10. Books in which bookmarks can be used.
And now I'm going to eat some lunch. Because, as I think this list demonstrates, I'm feeling a little hungry.
I know there is a rule that you shouldn't grocery shop hungry, because you will want to buy all the things. Maybe there is a similar rule for writing hungry? I also wonder if J.K. Rowling was hungry when she wrote all those banquet and meal scenes at Hogwarts in the Harry Potter books. All those great food descriptions - I always get hungry when I read them.
What are you thankful for today?
And what are you eating? I might need some dinner ideas!
Mmm, I just ate but the food still sounds good.
ReplyDeleteLast night I made bbq chicken, baked beans, and corn on the cob (by the way if you roast it in the oven a la Tyler Florence it comes out great!).
That sounds very yummy.
DeleteI've never tried corn on the cob roasted in the oven.
I just got home from a spectacular Sunday brunch, and yet I could read your ten things and say, "Hmm. Ice cream sandwiches? That sounds good. So does a burger and fries." Perfect list, Tracie!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteIt is good to know I'm not the only one drawn to ice cream sandwiches, burgers, and fries. ;-)
My husband just asked me what the plans were for dinner. I said, "I have no plans". I'm thinking ice cream sandwiches sound like a great idea. :)
ReplyDeleteYES! Ice cream sandwiches are always a great plan!! :)
DeleteI just took my mother out to lunch... she had a rueben and I had a avocado wrap with tomato, fig, and blue cheese crumbles...you could also have put turkey or bacon on it too but I opted out of those.
ReplyDeleteSeriously...that avocado wrap sounds AMAZING. I want one right now.
DeleteI bet she was hungry! I used to read the Harry Potter books on my lunch breaks at work and my lunches would always pale..so pale.. in comparison to my visions of the banquet food.
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful for local, fresh ice cream today. And in-laws who let me nap while they take care of two rowdy kids.
That is what Katarina said when we read it during lunch breaks one year, too. It made our peanut butter sandwiches look very sad.
DeleteFresh ice cream is yummy! And I love that your in-laws facilitated a nap for you. That is awesome.
I am ALWAYS thankful for chips! I have a long time love affair with them.
ReplyDeleteChips are the best!!
DeleteI love french fries if they are cooked right and are not soft and undercooked. working internet is a love of all who blog
ReplyDeleteI do the whole eat before grocery shopping thing and I end up with like a bag of cheetos and a carton of lemonade... then dinner time comes around and that's all I got.
ReplyDeleteIf I'm starving when I shop, yeah... I buy more than I should, but haha, then I have food later! :P
Oh I am with you on Number 2,5,6 and 10. And a hot cuppa coffee does me good. Being thankful is such a song for the soul. Gonna stalk you henceforth. Don't know if you have to be thankful for that though ;)
