Finding Balance On Christmas

My yesterday looked a little bit like this:
  1. Headache.
  2. Mashed potato container bursting in the microwave, making a mess and messing with dinner.
  3. Air conditioner leaking water all over the floor, and requiring several checks throughout the night to empty the bowl catching water until it could be fixed.
  4. Broken office chair.

My today is better:
  1. The headache is gone.
  2. I received a box of cookies, jam, and other goodies in the mail, so mashed potatoes couldn't be further from my mind.
  3. The air conditioner has been fixed, and I am reminded of one of the upsides to not owning a home - someone else has to come fix things when they break.
  4. The chair is broken beyond repair, but I am making it work. As long as I don't lean back, to the left, or too far forward, it seems okay. It is all about finding the balance.
Every time I need to sit in my chair, I am going to pretend I wanted to work on my balancing abilities. By the New Year I will be a master balancer. Or I will have learned to write blog posts standing up.

(I should probably set up a video camera now, so I can make some money off of a viral video of my chair dumping me on the floor and then hitting me in the head on Christmas morning.)

I hope you find your balance this Christmas, and have a great time celebrating with your family and friends.

  3. Just think, you are working your core muscles as you do the balancing act. That would cost you a lot of money at a gym. Glad you are feeling better. Merry Christmas!

  4. Balance is something that doesn't come easy to many but balance is always a good thing, I like to balance my chocolate with my cake intake.......

  7. I love the parallel you drew between finding balance in your chair and balance in life. I think so often we think we can come up with a magical formula that will bring balance to our lives at all times. I think that's crazy. Balance is something we have to figure out each day and sometimes each moment. But that also means we have the freedom to change things each day and each moment. May you find balance (and, hopefully, get a new chair).

Happy Sharefest and best wishes for a wonderful new year.
