We get a lot of rain in Florida, so much rain that I often wonder if we deserve to be called "The Sunshine State" at all. This afternoon we had a storm with all sorts of crazy, sideways rain. It was so thick, and the wind so strong, the rain almost looked like fog rolling in.
For everyone who did not spend their Sunday afternoon in the Sunshine Rain State, I'm going to share our freakish thunderstorm with you:
We do live in Orlando! Will they reschedule the tourney? Or did they play through the rain? (You can tell I'm very up on golf these days with those questions.)
I remember visiting my sister when she lived near Fort Lauderdale. Every afternoon during my visit, without fail, there was a storm for about 15-20 minutes. Never anything like what you went through this weekend, though! Holy moly!!
I have to admit I love thunderstorms. Of course the ones here in TX can get a little scary at times. But they're a great excuse to not leave the house!
I'd much rather have that storm than this snow...shudder. I think we are all getting pounded with this and that *That's what she said* couldn't resist.
We needed some of that Spring rain but got very little in the North Central part of the state. I like a rainy day every once in awhile...I love to read, too!
Crazy!!! We had a big thunderstorm here yesterday, but nothing like that! :) You know Wyoming actually has the most sunny days of the entire USA? It should really be called the sunshine state ;)
I love thunderstorms! I'm upset because we didn't get any storms in my little corner of the Sunshine State even though they were calling for it.
ReplyDeleteI love them too! Hopefully one will visit your corner today.
DeleteLOL....I posted about the rainy Florida weekend too!
ReplyDeleteHa! Great minds and all that ;-)
DeleteI know where is our spring? Rain and cold go away!
ReplyDeleteI think Spring is on strike. Our weather is warm down here, but I am still seeing a LOT of snow pictures in my facebook newsfeed.
DeleteWe got the ugly rain on Saturday. It didn't quite get sideways, but it sounded awful.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be very sunny today - hopefully some of that sun has made it up there to you as well.
Deletedo you live near Orlando - cause a storm like that stopped the PGA tourney and I couldn't see Tiger win another one

I live in Florida too!
ReplyDeleteBrevard County...
We didn't lose power, thankfully... But a few people I know had damage.
Hey there fellow Floridian!
DeleteI've seen pictures of a few downed trees in our area. Glad to hear you didn't lose power.

ReplyDeleteYep! It rains down here all the time. And it is nearly impossible to correctly predict what when or how much it will happen.
DeleteI'm so looking forward to afternoon thunderstorms. They're much better than cold, snowy snowstorms, hehe.
ReplyDeleteI will totally take the thunderstorms over the cold and snow we have been having here in NY. Loved the video and thanks for sharing!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'd rather have a thunderstorm than the snow that is falling right now. Ugh! Where is spring already??

ReplyDeleteWow! I like storms only if I know where everybody is. Otherwise I worry myself to death. LOL
ReplyDeleteI love thunderstorms but we don't get them much here in western Oregon. When I lived in Wisconsin, I enjoyed quite a few window-rattling storms.
ReplyDeleteYeah I know what you mean the only times I have been to Queensland which is the sunshine state it has rained..........lol
ReplyDeleteLOL! I think places must jinx themselves by adopting the name "Sunshine State"

ReplyDeletecouldn't resist.
Ha!! Love it.
DeleteIf I didn't know better, I'd think it was a hurricane!
ReplyDeleteI found out the next day that the winds did reach 85 MPH, which is hurricane strength (even though it wasn't officially a hurricane).
DeleteOh wow, that was rather scary. I don't like thunderstorms - both the thunder and lightening frighten me. Dropping by from Sundays in my city.

ReplyDeleteYou are not kidding, that is a lot of rain. I am afraid of thunderstorms unless I have someone to cuddle up with.
ReplyDeleteCuddling during thunderstorms is the best.

ReplyDeleteI will now and forever think of Wyoming as the Sunshine State! Love it.
