Against Such There Is No Law

On Saturdays, I like to share one great thing I read during the week.
Today, this is that thing:

fruit of the spirit

I haven't had the chance to read very many blog posts this week. But I did have a great conversation with someone I love about the fruit of the Spirit.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."
- Galatians 5:22-23

It is so easy to skim over those verses with which we are very familiar. But if we slow down, and really think about those well-known words, we can find new insights and understanding.

What great thing did you read this week?

  1. “Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear. The brave may not live forever, but the cautious do not live at all. From now on you'll be traveling the road between who you think you are and who you can be. The key is to allow yourself to make the journey.”

  2. That's one of my favorite verses. We asked the minister who married us to speak about those verses during our ceremony.

  3. I finished reading a book about a WWII POW survivor whose story is incredibly inspiring.

  4. I so need to slow down all across the board. Good advice. Taking in God's Word slowly. Soaking..... blessings.

  6. That is the beauty of reading the bible. It can mean so much to anyone. Non believers, from an ethical, moral viewpoint, to using the word as a life compass.

It's a beautiful book. I wish it wouldn't get thrown into battle by those that use it to condemn rather than love. But that's humanity.

Happy Thanksgiving to you, beautiful Tracie.

  8. It took me a couple of years to understand that verse and it finally dawned on me that it meant that, while there will always be a moral law against hate and stealing and debauchery (etc) there will never be any law or any kind of limitation against joy or peace or love or goodness or gentleness (etc). Against such things there is no law.
