This attempted murder by my stomach has necessitated much lying down and the extra reading of books. The extra reading of books part is nice. And the lying down part doesn't suck either.
In the midst of all this, Katarina had an appointment with the dentist.
The hygienist was nice. He seemed young, but it was hard to tell with the paper mask, so I didn't give it much thought.
Then the dentist came in and introduced himself.
He was nice, too. Very energetic. Seemed excited about his job.
But all through conversations of proper brushing technique (fun), plaque (not fun), and counting baby teeth, there was only one thought in my brain...
"Oh my gosh. Is he younger than me? Am I older than the dentist?"
I have discovered the final sign on the 'Am I Old List' - the day you are older than the dentist.
Maybe my stomach was trying to do me a favor, to keep me away from the knowledge that I have officially moved into old age.
What makes you feel old? Or young?
*To Katarina's great credit, after hearing me mention the youngness of the dentist, she said, "He looked at least 35. You are definitely younger than him." I love that kid.
at 60 everyone looks younger...lol got to love kids they do say the best things
ReplyDeleteKids are great!
DeleteOh yeah... this is a common occurance for me now - everyone is younger :)
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better soon!
& DONT look it up!!!! Googlisitis is awful!!!!
Thanks!
DeleteGooglisitis is awful.
So far, I'm staying strong and avoiding it!
Hahahaha! That is funny. I think my dentist is younger than me. He is certainly hotter. It's definitely disconcerting! Makes it nicer going, though, that's for sure. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat does make going to the dentist nicer! ;-)
DeleteAt least I'm not the only one with a young dentist. Whew.
What makes me feel young is someone saying I am younger than I look. What makes me feel old, another one saying I look older than I am. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThose things work for me too! :)
DeleteMy boys' teachers make me feel old. Not that it's weird for someone to be a teacher in their early twenties, but they just look SO young. Now I get why the parents of my former students used to look at me like I was a baby.
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better.
Oh yeah. Teachers look younger every year.
DeleteThanks!
Katarina is awesome!
ReplyDeleteAlso, get well soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cindy!! (and yes, Katarina is awesome!) <3
DeleteOK if it is any consolation there is a stomach virus going around in my neck of the woods. I have probably given it to you via computer virus bwhahaa.. Seriously I hope you feel better soon hun.
ReplyDeleteOMG...I totally get this. When I visited the ER for the tumor in my gallbladder, I had 2 residents come and assess me. They were super young and I'm 32 EEEk
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, yes! I'm 44 and run into practitioners younger than me on a regular basis now. I don't know how old my primary care doc is but I'm pretty darn sure she's younger than me. It makes me feel like I haven't done anything with my life even though I've had a less-than-typical life and my biggest job has been to heal and grow. What really makes me feel old is my children being grown and all the wrinkles I'm noticing in my face these days. Ouch!
ReplyDeleteKatarina rocks! Get better! And if it makes you feel better, my primary doc is only a few years older than me. It was a little odd at first but he's the best doc I've ever had.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that professional football players are younger than me is when I had a "oh my I'm old" moment lol!
ReplyDeleteSo true. I had the same experience recently. My dentist retired, so I had to find a new dentist in my area who is accepting patients. The one I found looks as if he is in his twenties and according to his hygienist hasn't moved out to the burbs yet because he just graduated. The bad news is he found two cavities while my previous dentist had predicted I would never have a cavity.
ReplyDeleteWell seeing your picture, I am POSITIVE you have NOT moved into old age yet! You look much younger than I do. So what does that mean for me??
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog and I'm happy you liked my photo. And you are far from being old...perhaps getting older but not old yet ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome. I can relate. I think old is when former students graduate and become teachers; I haven't met any yet, but I'm sure there could be one out there...haha
ReplyDeleteI feel old when the oldies station plays a song I grew up dancing to. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteThat's why I insist on seasoned the physicians and dentists. Then again, I seem to be requiring more visits the older I get which then increases the chances of getting someone younger and, well, getting old sucks wet poodle.
