The Penniless Princess is the story of Sarah Crew. Her father leaves her at Miss Minchin's boarding school in London, where she has the best room, lots of beautiful dresses, and books. She is a very sweet girl, and befriends a servant girl named Becky who lives in the attic.
Sarah's father is supposed to return from Africa to visit on her birthday, but instead she receives the news that he has died, and his fortune is lost. The mean Miss Minchin moves her to the attic with Becky and tries to teach her that she isn't special. But Sarah knows that even if you don't look like a princess on the outside, you can still be a princess on the inside. She draws strength from her faith, and believes that God loves her no matter what happens.
If you know the original Little Princess story, you will remember that there is a happy ending - she meets her neighbor, and learns he has been looking for her to fulfill a promise to her father that he will take care of Sarah.
The movie is very cute. It has the funny moments (and a silly song!) that you expect from Veggie Tales, and a great lesson about love and knowing your true worth.
There was much discussion in our house about what kind of vegetable Sarah is (obviously she is not a carrot or a tomato). Katarina thinks she might be a green onion, but I'm not sure. Maybe a rhubarb? Whatever vegetable she is, she is cute.

I'd love to win we lost everything in the tornado outbreak last year and we don't have tv service so we just watch movies on DVD because we're struggling to rebuild our lives and with 5 kids it's hard to pay bills, buy necessities and get stuff kids like or want (doesn't happen...) ESP with school just started...
