Blog Carnival Against Child Abuse

Survivor Stories:
-Hope from The Hope for Trauma submitted I’m supposed to be here
She wrote: In this post, I am reflecting on my past few months. I learned many things about myself and my alters and am finally able to love myself/myselves.

Healing & Therapy:
-Mike McBride from Child Abuse Survivor submitted Confirmation Bias
Mike offers some thoughts about confirmation bias, and how it can be a dangerous way of thinking for survivors.

-Mike McBride from Child Abuse Survivor submitted Troubleshooting Life
This is a great reminder to try stepping outside of your comfort zone.

-Tracie from From Tracie submitted Full of thoughts - We Are Okay
One of the most important things in my healing journey has been writing. On a day when I started to question that, I found words that were perfect and inspired me to keep going.

-Kate from Kate is Rising submitted He Said, I'm Afraid
She wrote: This post is about my ongoing efforts to be calm and assertive in my life. Sometimes when I envision helping others it is on a grand scale, and I think oh that I can't do now, that I might not ever be able to do. This incident helped remind me that living my life, in the calm little moments, can have a positive effect on myself and others. It had a deep resonance at the time, which continues.

Advocacy & Awareness:
-Bryhn Peace from Out of Love submitted Families: Why do they cover up sexual abuse?
Bryhn shares some advice for a friend whose family encouraged her to not report the person who abused her, and continues to include the abuser in family events.

Aftermath:
-Lindy Abbott from Living Visible-Learning to Live After Abuse and Trauma submitted I dread Father's Day
She wrote: I wrote this on father's day last year.
Lindy shares what a truthful Father's Day card would say. I think that is brilliant.

-Kate from Kate is Rising submitted My Mother Was an Eating Disorder
She wrote: This post is my most recent on the topic of mother-daughter sexual abuse. It may be triggering. It deals with being denied food and being abused with food while a young child by my mother. Often when an abuser is involved in a child's life many innocuous things become imbued with triggers, negative thoughts, and negative associations. Overcoming these are a huge part of healing, especially for me.

Healing Quotes:
Kate from Kate is Rising has a great collection of healing quotes at her blog. She is sharing two of them with us today:
-The first quote is from Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Whatever is behind us and whatever is before us are tiny matters compared to what is within us."
She wrote: More than twenty years ago a friend of mine gifted me with this quote. I had been collecting quotes that impacted me for many years already, but this one has meant the most to me in my life and in walking my healing path. I am starting to really believe that it is true."

-The second quote is from Bruce Springsteen, "There is no right way, no pure way of doing it. There is just doing it."
She wrote: This is a quote that my multiple system Littles picked for our blog. I love this quote, most of all because it is by Bruce Springsteen, who has always made me feel understood and valued through his art and life, and because The Littles remind me of this all the time; action is to be highly valued above in-action, no matter the quality of the action. Important words for me to try to live by."
