I see her giggles.
She is leaning over and whispering to her daddy.
He laughs.
They look over at me and the laughter grows.
"What are you two saying? What is so funny?"
"Oh mom, we can't tell you that just yet. Wait until tomorrow. You will see."
It is a surprise. Her very favorite thing.
Not often very big....but special in all it's smallness.
Love drips off of it.
She can hardly contain all the joy that flows through her, and it comes out in jumps and hops and big, tight hugs.
A smile so big.
Her heart shows through.
And in that moment I understand the truth behind that old saying, it is the thought that counts.
"Do you love it? Do you really really love it?"
"Yes my dear. I love it. And I really really love you."
Super sweet :) So full of love, she is..

So sweet! There's just nothing like a gift from your child! And, yes, watching their excitement about giving it is the best part.
ReplyDeleteOh I can't wait for this. I know my daughter's first words in the mornings are the sweetest things I hear all day.
ReplyDeleteOh happy sighs.
Thank you for sharing this.
Dropping in from SITS. Very sweet poem... I have a little ones that reminds me of!
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet! It makes my heart melt. :)
ReplyDeleteA birthday surprise for you? So sweet!
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a wonderful day!
And the best part is, with some kids (mine included), they don't lose that joy of giving. My boys get so giggly and funny when it's gift giving time for me. They really do search hard for a gift to truly make me smile.
ReplyDeleteTheir love and generosity is worth so much more than whatever it is they're giving.
Such sweet moments.
