Thirteen Books I Can Not Pass By

I am a book lover. You can drop me off at a bookstore or a library and you don't have to worry about me for hours, or even days. Some books are so good, I find myself picking them up in the bookstore and petting them while murmuring, "My Precious," even though I already own them. Got the visual?

Here are thirteen books I saw the other day at the store....

1. Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers, fiction ~ I love all of the books she has written, but Redeeming Love is the most amazing.  (Don't read without your tissues box close by)

2. The Mitford Books by Jan Karon, fiction ~ Simply Beautiful. These books pull you into the story of a small town. You fall in love with, not only the main characters, but everyone who lives in Mitford.

3. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, fiction ~ The first time I read this, I was in middle school. It is still one of my favorites.

4. Emma by Jane Austen, fiction ~ I love all Jane Austen books.

5. The Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind, fantasy ~ It is hard for me to take nine books and sum them up in a sentence. I'm going to just say this series is ingenious. It was made it into a television show, but I would request that you don't judge the book by it's....."cover"?  (Rated R)

6. Wicked by Gregory Maguire, fantasy ~ If you love The Wizard of Oz, here is your chance to see the Wicked Witch's side of the story. (Rated R)

7. The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom, autobiography ~ Amazing.

8. I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou, autobiography ~ A strong survivor.




9. The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis, children ~ Not only do I love these precious children's books, I also love his non-fiction. I usually read through Mere Christianity at least once a year.

10. The Nancy Drew Series by Carolyn Keene, children ~ I read and re-read these so many times when I was little. I remember this one being one of my favorites. Now Katarina and I read them together which is extra special.

11. Breaking Free by Beth Moore, nonfiction ~ A great study book.

12. Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning, nonfiction ~ I found Brennan Manning through Rich Mullins (if you look closely you can see him on the cover). Ragamuffin Gospel is the first Manning book I read so it will always be special.  If you haven't already read any of his books, leave right now and go get them all!

13. The Alexandra Cooper Series by Linda Fairstein, mystery ~ In real life Linda Fairstein led the Sex Crimes Unit of the District Attorney's Office in Manhattan for 25 years. If you like Law and Order SVU, you will love these books.



There are other authors and books I could include in this list. In fact, I probably could have found at least 13 books in each section of the store.

Just in case you were wondering, yes, there were people giving us funny looks as I posed for pictures with random books all over the store - it was rather hilarious. An employee started following us around, and I am pretty sure she thought we were some type of crazy shoplifting family (also, after this post, I don't need to have another picture of myself on this blog for at least two years).

I would like to thank my husband for looking at me strangely and saying, "Don't you already own that book?" when I pick these up at the store, so I will put them back down again.
